Power Corrupt is an Avatar AU fanfiction you could say...
That inspired me to do this piece of art.

You can see the skiss at my journal.

Re-posted from [info]racebending :

APA Meeting with Paramount

In response to the protest over the portrayal of Asian Americans and the race jokes in The Goods: Live Hard, Sell Hard, Asian American community leaders were invited to meet with high level Paramount executives in November. At the meeting, the Media Action Network for Asian Americans brought up the casting controversy over The Last Airbender.

You can visit Racebending.com to read the full report. Suffice to say, now Paramount can't pretend they aren't aware of the problems people have with the casting.

The President of Paramount Pictures told MANAA that in all his years in the business, he has never seen such outcry over the casting of a character, and that "diversity is paramount to Paramount."

"Diversity is Paramount to Paramount"?

Racebending.com decided to investigate that claim, so if you haven't seen it yet, also take a look at the research we did on the history of Asian American actors and Paramount Pictures. We learned that years ago, Paramount offered Asian American actors opportunities they no longer offer today.

Over fifty years ago, Paramount was more progressive in hiring Asian actors than any other studio, launching the careers of some of the biggest Asian American stars of all time--including Sessue Hayakawa, Anna Mae Wong, Nancy Kwan, and George Takei.

The modern day Paramount won't even cast Asian American actors, going so far as to casting white actors to play characters of color. Today their most famous Asian "star" is Po the Kung Fu Panda.

****NOTE****
In light of the comments made in my last racebending-related post to this comm, I wanted to clarify a few things, namely

1) That racebending.com is a part of the Avatar fan community, and that it is my belief that racebending-related posts can therefore co-exist in this comm along side more general movie posts, in the same way that Kataang-related posts and Zutara-related posts have a place here.

and 2) That my purpose in re-posting racebending.com updates to avatar_fans is to make sure that all Avatar fans have access to as much information as possible to make the best decision for themselves in regards to whether they support this film and to what degree. There persist a number of misconceptions about what this movement is and what it stands for: my hope is that these posts work towards dispelling those. Do feel free to ask me any questions (such as whether racebending.com is racist against whites/blacks/Jewish people... the short answer being NO) about the movement, and as you doubtlessly know, you can always visit us at racebending.com. :)

Thank you.

I made this as a submission to Ty-Zula, the new DA club for my Avatar OTP. They're having an icon/banner contest, so of course I had to submit something. The mod mentioned she wanted it "animated," but I'm not sure this was exactly what she had in mind. XD Estimated time taken: a million years. Every time I try to animate something, I'm painfully reminded of why I DIDN'T do animation as my major. I'd rather become famous through comics, and then direct/storyboard animations. Those drones can do all this dirty work! XD
x-posted to several Avatar comms, sorry for the spam!

I have a big favor to ask you guys. Those that are graphic-savvy, I was wondering if any of you would be so kind as to make a cover for a Sukka fanmix? I would love to be able to pay you but sadly I can't. I know that there are many kind members of our fandom, and I realise I am asking a bit much, but you would of course get full credit here and at my LJ. I would be forever grateful - if you can just comment and I will send you the name and songlist as soon as I can.

Thanks!
